2020-21 Season

Dear Parents:

Welcome to Manhasset AllStars (MAS), and thank you for granting us the opportunity to work with such an incredible group of young athletes. We are tremendously excited about our team this season. In just a few practices, it is evident to us that there is an immense amount of talent, skill, and vision among each of our players. It is indeed an honor to have a chance to help them grow as a team in the AAU and in Central Florida. We know they have what it takes to make this an outstanding 2020-21 season.

Through the years, MAS, which is affiliated with Amateur Athletic Union, has become more than just a team --- it has evolved into a basketball family. As coaches, we have high expectations for our players and we aim to enhance each player’s skills and knowledge of the game through conditioning and practice. We also maintain the goal of providing our players the encouragement and support needed to help them reach their full potential.

Our philosophy has helped MAS not only to nurture our young athletes but also to teach them to work as “family” on the court to achieve success. We look forward to the continued tradition and to growing with your sons in this capacity this season.

No family is complete with the support of parents. So, please know that we are excited about working and growing with you as our games and practices progress. Additional information about our season is outlined below. Please feel free to contact any of our staff memebers if you have any questions. We appreciate your support and commitment.

  Tournament Schedule & Registration

Tournament schedules for the 2020-21 Season will be posted on our Sports website manhassetallstars.net. The cost and payment schedule for each of our tournaments is included on the schedule. Our goal is to complete payment for registration prior to each tournament as opposed to requiring payment in a lump sum, though this can be an option for your family if preferred.  Our team mom will provide receipts for your payments. Registration for tournaments can be submitted each week at your teams practice.

  AAU Requirements

AAU requires MAS to maintain records on each of players which are transported to each game. We need a copy of documentation below for our team files:

-          Your son’s birth certificate

-          His AAU card & registration receipt

-          His most recent report card showing his grade level

-          A recent photo of your son

Please bring these with you for practice, at the start of our 2020-21. We will also have the capacity to make copies of these documents for you on-site if needed.

   Uniforms

THE COST OF THE UNIFORMS will be determined on the number of players we have on the team. We would appreciate players keeping their current uniforms and those to arrive in excellent condition.

Please log on to the wwwmanhassetallstars.net and complete the player profile for your son, if you have not done so already. Profiles will be used to process orders for new uniforms. This will also enable us to secure uniforms that meet players’ size and number requests. Uniform costs are included on the attached schedule and payment will be due upon delivery (*Projections: Jan 2020).

    Practices

Currently MAS will practice during the week at a local Park, Rec Centers or Schools in the Orlando Area. Practice times are usually from 6p-8p coaches will make their own practice times. Additional practices will be scheduled and announcements will be made regarding night of the week, times and location. For each practice, players are asked to bring their MAS practice jerseys. Also, we encourage players to have light snacks ONLY prior to practice.

   Team Fundraising

We are exploring fundraising opportunities that will help offset team expenses for tournaments, practice times and any other expenses MAS may have during the season. Many thanks in advance for your effort in this regard. We’re a non-profit organization.

  MAS Mindfulness

As we enter the 2020-21 League / Tournament season, we want our players to be ready to play hard, play smart, and to enjoy every aspect of our tournaments. However, this cannot happen unless each player maintains and adheres to the strong sense of sportsmanship we know each of us already has. It is important to be respectful of the game, its officials, players and other teams parents whether on, or off of the court.

In addition, we ask all players to exercise “pre-game mindfulness” and employ strategies to ensure they are “game ready” for each tournament. This includes:

-     Arriving to games and practices on time and ready to play

-     Being prepared for games with appropriate uniform shoes etc

-     Having practice jerseys with them for practices

-     Getting plenty of rest prior to a long weekend

-     Hydrating before, during and after the games and practices

-     Eating meals regularly prior to tournament weekends

-     Work on stretching, and light practices the nights before games

   Team Support

Please see our Director, or visit the MAS Bulletin Board for the online signup if you are interested in helping with team drinks, healthy snacks, or any other support the team may need throughout the season.

Thank you again on behalf of the Manhasset AllStars family. We look forward to an outstanding season for our players!
