Some of the most important and vital needs in the communities of Central Florida is a comprehensive state of the art education, and recreation program.
In 2018 M.A.S. had more than 97 Boys participating on our AAU Basketball Teams: 17u, 15u, 14u, 13u, 12u, 11u. 10u & 8u.
We will continue to expand our program in the future.
The MANHASSET ALLSTARS, INC general purpose and function is to plan, coordinate, initiate, evaluate and supervise a comprehensive youth and at-risk teens initiative. Our main focus is education, family assistance and recreation. We study, plan, sponsor, encourage, contract for, and administer programs aimed at increasing opportunity for youth and teens and their families in our community.
- We will insure that the economic life of the youth and at-risk teens in our program continues beyond 5pm, (close of most business) and assure that the services provided will impact upon the social and physical life of those in this community.
- We will assure that the youth and teens in our program be recognized and accepted as a means of ending their isolation economically, psychologically and physically.
- We will work with other non-profit social agencies, governmental agencies, school districts and community volunteers to insure that the youth and teens members benefit from our services.
Areas we address:
- Drug/crime prevention - our afterschool and summer programs will provide a safe and structured environment for the youth and at-risk teens. They are designed to keep them "off the streets" during the crucial hours of the day; after school until nine (9pm).
- Education - our "Academic Enrichment Program" will provide opportunity for both youth and at-risk student athletes to enhance their education. Any student athlete who needs help with general school subjects will benefit from the program. We look for all options for our student athletes who has trouble with normal campus environment. We have staff who are State of Florida Department of Education Certified Educators. Our Academic Enrichment Director is a Certified Educator. Our Education Director is a qualified and experienced mentor and has an ongoing relationship with the Education Foundation and the school district of Osceola County.
- Sports/Recreation - our main objective is to allow all members the opportunity to have as much recreation time as necessary. Recreation is a huge part of a well-rounded individual. We will identify any exceptional athlete and assist them with the proper training and skill development, prepare them for sat scores and NCAA Clearing House and make sure they meet the college GPA requirements.
- Nutrition/Health - we will distribute nutrition information, partner with health programs and services, disseminate information on feeding programs and food banks for the families of the youth and teens we service.
- Personal Assistance/Housing - create a "job bank" for the teens in our program. Teach teens interview skills and how to "dress for success". Seek housing for youth and teens and their families in our program.
